About the Coffee Bean Guide
The Coffee Bean Guide is made by Quality Life Coffee in Hong Kong to explain, simply, the origins, varieties, processing and flavours behind coffee, and to help you choose coffee you will really enjoy.
Sources
Origin, variety and processing information draws on the World Coffee Research variety catalogue, national coffee bodies, the SCA flavour wheel and producers’ published information, compiled by us in Chinese and English. Award results come from official pages such as the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (Cup of Excellence) and Best of Panama.
How the quiz works
Every QLC coffee has a flavour profile: flavour-family mix, acidity, sweetness, body, fermentation and roast. The quiz turns your answers into the same kind of profile and scores each coffee: flavour 45%, roast 15%, fermentation 15%, acidity 15% and body 10%, adjusted for brewing method and how adventurous you are. Only coffees currently in stock are recommended.
Coffee flavour data comes from our own tasting notes, partly sorted with AI help and checked by people. If you spot a mistake, please let us know.
